🌍 Background and influences:
Born in Uganda and based in the US, Apollo BW, is a musician/singer-songwriter, an entrepreneur and a philanthropist whose multicultural roots and diverse influences shape his distinctive musical style characterized by danceable rhythms and melodies.
Infused with the rhythmic energy of Afrobeats, the soulful melodies of African pop, and the electronic beats of EDM, Apollo BW's music is an immersive and harmonious experience.
🎤 Musical Journey:
How it all started - With no prior singing experience, Apollo walked into the studio, felt the need to reconnect with his roots, and got inspired to write and record his first single "Ganana" in one day. This came after numerous attempts to contribute towards career development of a handful of Ugandan Musicians but it quickly dawned on Apollo that he would be in a more suitable position to have a meaningful impact on his Uganda's music industry beyond just musicians he knew by stepping in the shoes of creators and musicians. While doing this, he would pick ideas and learn from some of the great musicians from Africa, The Americas, and Europe.
Frustrations from observing would-have-been prominent global East African artists get stuck focusing on catering their music primarily to the Ugandan community cemented Apollo BW’s decision to take on music full-time.
🌟 Vision and Style:
The vision that propels Apollo's musical adventurers journey aims to bridge cultures, create immersive experiences, and bring harmony to the world.
Apollo had always wondered how much music from his Ugandan roots would achieve if it wasn't limited to the Ugandan audience. Apollo BW’s music brand was inspired by the fact that East Africa has a billion dollar storytelling industry in form of music, yet people creating this music don’t seem to appreciate the potential impact it can have beyond them, their comfort zone, and their communities. There is a track record of local artists transcending geographic boundaries and captivating a global music audience only to retract to their comfort zones.
Deep down Apollo, uses his music as a platform to share a piece of East Africa with the world while giving back to his community, say the things he truly believes in, and share experiences his fans can relate to. His hope is to embody all of that through his music and work.
🤝 Philanthropic Pursuits:
Beyond making music, Apollo is committed to philanthropic efforts in improving healthcare care conditions areas with the greatest need, empowering youth initiatives (sports, arts, entrepreneurship), hunger relief initiatives and access to education.
